Family Services and Events
Family Shabbat
4.15pm 2nd Friday of the month
Bring in Shabbat with the whole family, with fun activities, songs, storytelling and lively music. Aimed at Primary School children, all are welcome! After school snacks provided.
Jewish Festivals
Purim
One of the most joyous and fun holidays in the Jewish calendar, each year, for families, we celebrate with a Purim Carnival! A fun-filled day of costumes, activities, songs and treats.
Pesach
In addition to our traditional seders for Pesach, we hold an alternative “Chocolate Seder” aimed at our younger members. With a dedicated Haggadah and lots of yummy sugary treats, we come together to retell the Pesach story.
Shavuot
To commemorate the giving of Torah and the 10 Commandments at Mt Sinai, we run special family activities. Enjoy games and activities themed around dairy and the mountain!
High Holy Days
For the most holy time of the Jewish year, we have a lineup of meaningful and exciting activities on our calendar. From family-friendly services to hands-on activities, there’s always heaps on.
Chanukah
For the festival of lights, we love celebrating with a joyous themed service for kids. With fun activities and delicious (deep fried!) treats, let’s a have a fun(ukah?) time!
Youth Education
Beit Sefer Chayim
Tuesday (St Kilda) 4.30pm
Our after-school education program for primary-school aged students in Prep to Grade 5 run jointly by Temple Beth Israel and Etz Chayim Progressive Synagogue. Learn the Jewish calendar, Torah, values, rituals, languages and more, through the teachings of Progressive Judaism.

B’nei Mitzvah Program
Tuesdays 4.30
(during school term)
Our program is the experiential, hands-on learning component of TBI’s B’nei mitzvah journey. Develop friendships and a sense of community within the B’nei mitzvah class, alongside important studies of T’filah, Text, Jewish Values, Culture and Social Action.

B’nei Mitzvah Resources
For those preparing for an upcoming bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah, we have put together a collection of resources to help. Watch or listen along with Cantor Michel Laloum as he demonstrates chants, phrases and songs.

Netzer
Netzer is our affiliated Progressive Youth Movement.
They run weekly get togethers, camps and events for children in school years 3 – 12
