Limmud on Sundays: The Jewish Population Survey

For the past two years Professor Andrew Markus of Monash University’s Centre for Jewish Civilisation has headed a team preparing, disseminating and analyzing the results of a survey into the practices and attitudes of the Jewish community of Australia – the first major study of Australia’s Jewish community for over ten years. We at Temple Beth Israel are privileged to open our Sunday Limmud for 2010 with Professor Markus, who will introduce the Survey to us over two sessions. Professor Andrew Markus holds the Pratt Foundation research chair in the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation at Monash University and is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. He has researched in Australian immigration and indigenous history and currently heads four major projects. Andrew is the author of more than ten books, the most recent being Australia’s Immigration Revolution (Allen & Unwin 2009). He and his wife Simone are members of TBI.
