Monica Hyams, education director
monica hyams
Monica is a life-long member of Temple Time and a highly experienced educator with experience in the private (Jewish and non-Jewish) and public school system, and outside school hours programs. Monica directs our Matan supplementary religion school and Hebrew program and coordinates lifelong Jewish learning at TBI.

As a child of TBI, the cornerstones of my Jewish and Zionist identity have been fashioned and shaped by Temple. I want to replicate my own life-changing experiences among the students of MATAN. I want them to have a passion for Judaism. In addition, I want them to be as proud of their shul as I and my family have always been.

My educational background is that of a very experienced teacher. I have been an active educator for twenty years and have taught at both Jewish and non-Jewish day schools.  The roles I have undertaken include informal and formal settings and my work has always involved leadership skills.

Netzer, AANZUPJ, ARZI, SZC and many other vibrant organizations have kept me busy over the years. Being Jewish defines who I am. The many years as a teacher at The King David School kept me in immediate contact with the 21st century Jewish child who will become our community's future. These are the voices who need to be heard and educated as to what they understand about their Judasim.
